Distancing declaration


With its ruling of 12/05/1998, Hamburg District Court stated that, in certain circumstances, placing a link implies joint responsibility for the content of the page being linked to.

The court stated that this can only be avoided by expressly distancing oneself from said content. Our pages contain links to other pages on the World Wide Web.

The following applies in respect of such links: we hereby expressly declare that we have no influence whatsoever on the design and content of the linked pages. We therefore expressly distance ourselves from the content of all pages linked to from our website and do not claim this content as our own.

1. General data protection information


Data enables us to provide an outstanding service. Our most important capital is our customers’ trust. Our top priority is to protect customer data and only use it in the manner our customers expect. We therefore comply with data protection legislation as a matter of course. Furthermore, it is important to us that you know at all times which data we store, when we store it and how we use it.

2. Transparent data collection, disclosure and usage


The statements made here should provide you with the necessary transparency and cover any relevant information obligations in line with Sect. 13 (1) of the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz). Please also refer to Item 4 ""Information on data security"".
Your visit to our website will be logged. The main information recorded includes the time and date of the visit, the browser used, your computer’s operating system and the pages you access. Generally speaking, it is not possible to identify individuals and nor is this our intention.
This data will only be collected for the purposes of data security and the optimisation of our website. Other than for statistical purposes (in which case the data appears in anonymised form), the data will not be evaluated for any other reason. No personal surfing profiles or similar will be drawn up or processed.
Furthermore, personal data will only be stored when you provide us with the data voluntarily, e.g. as part of a registration process, a survey, a competition, an online application or the performance of an agreement. You will be informed of the purpose for which the data is being collected on the relevant data entry and contact forms. Data of this nature will be transferred in encrypted form via the Internet.

3. Data usage and disclosure


The personal data that you share with us via a Web page or by email (e.g. your name and address or your email address) will be used solely for correspondence with you and processed solely for the purpose for which you provided us with the data.
Further, we will use the data for providing you with offers from time to time and informing you of new products and services that may be of interest to you. You are, of course, entitled to revoke this use of your data at any time.
The information collected on this website will be passed to the responsible unit within our group for processing. We assure you that we will not otherwise pass your personal data on to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so or unless you have given us your prior consent to do so.

Insofar as we engage service providers to process data, these contractual agreements will be governed by the provisions of the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz), e.g. Sect. 11 BDSG.
We engage other companies and individuals to perform services on our behalf. These services include parcel delivery, the sending of letters and emails, the maintenance of customer lists, database analysis, advertising measures, payment processing (credit cards, direct debits, purchases on account) and customer service. These service providers have access to the personal information they need to fulfil their duties. This information may not be used for any other purpose, however. Furthermore, they are obliged to handle the information in accordance with this data protection statement and German data protection legislation.
Your order and payment data will be used for the purpose of an internal evaluation of payment habits in respect of future orders. 

4. Credit checks


We occasionally use information about you from other sources and add this to our information in your customer account. We reserve the right to obtain information from third parties (e.g. mail-order companies, credit reference agencies) about your payment history in order to be able to offer you certain payment options (e.g. purchase on account) or other financial services.

5. Consent and revocation


If you have furnished us with personal data, you can have this data erased at any time on request. Data held for invoicing and bookkeeping purposes is not affected by cancellation/revocation and/or any deletion.
Otherwise, your email address, your telephone and/or mobile number and your fax number may only be used for advertising purposes or market/opinion research with your separate consent. You may give this consent electronically when entering your data and revoke it any time with future effect.

6. Storage period


Personal data shared with us via our website will only be stored for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which we have been entrusted with the data. Insofar as retention periods apply in commercial or tax law, the storage period for certain data may last up to 10 years. 

7. Rights of the data subject


Should you no longer agree to the storage of your personal data or if it has become incorrect, we will, if instructed to do so, order the deletion or blocking of your data, or make the necessary corrections (insofar as this is permissible under valid legislation). On request, you will receive free information on all the personal data we hold about you.

8. Links to third-party Web pages


We occasionally direct users to third-party Web pages. Although we carefully select these third parties, we cannot accept any liability for the correctness or completeness of the content concerned and the security of data on third-party websites. This privacy policy does not extend to linked third-party websites.

9. Laws governing multinational companies


We conduct our business in such a way that our obligations are met in countries in which we are represented.

10. Updates to this data protection statements


Insofar as we launch new products or services, change Internet processes or if there are advances in the Internet and IT security technology, this privacy policy shall be updated. We, therefore, reserve the right to amend or supplement this declaration as necessary. We will publish any changes here. Consequently, you should regularly access this website to familiarise yourself with the current status of the data protection statement.

11. Liability


All information contained on this website was checked with great care. We offer no guarantee, however, that the content of our own Web pages are correct, complete and up to date at all times.

12. Monitoring measures


A firewall system prevents external access. Multiple levels of encryption and identification prevent unauthorised requests or the interception of customer data during transmission. Alongside the internal encryption protocol of Internet browsers, we use even stronger encryption methods to rule out decoding by unauthorised persons.

13. Technologies used to operate the Web pages


Cookies are small text files that are placed on the PC of an Internet user. They are used to manage the Internet connection during your visit to our website. At the same time, the cookies provide us with information that enables us to optimise the Web pages in line with user requirements. We only use some cookies for the duration of your visit to the website. Our ad management service provider, however, uses some cookies with a longer storage period. These are used solely for analysing website use. All cookies on our website contain purely technical information and no personal data.
Our website can also be used without cookies. Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. You can, however, disable the storage of cookies or set your browser to notify you as soon as cookies are sent. We recommend that cookies are activated, as some pages will otherwise not be displayed correctly.

We maintain the confidentiality and security of your personal information by
using your personal data if you have consented to it via our website or via email communication, and only to fulfil your requests,
making sure our staff comply with their duty of confidentiality,
ensuring our security systems correspond to a reasonable degree to state-of-the-art technology,
checking our systems regularly to make sure that we can protect data in our systems from damage, loss and unauthorised access,
ensuring compliance with the data privacy statements of external data protection officers. 

15. Advice on improving your personal data security


You can set up your browser so that you are informed as soon as cookies are to be used in order to accept or refuse their use in general or in individual cases.
You can tell a secure Internet connection by the address. If the address starts with https, you know it is a secure connection (e.g. ….en). Another feature to look for is the closed padlock in the lower icon bar of your browser.
We will never request confidential data such as your account number/customer number, your PIN or your password via email, over the phone or by text message, or ask you to send us these or provide this information, or enter log-in details directly.
Only install programs that you have received from a trustworthy source. You should exercise particular caution when downloading programs from the Internet.
Do not install or launch any programs received from unknown persons or contained in unsolicited emails from people you know. Caution: screensavers are programs, too.
If you have even the slightest doubt about the trustworthiness of a program, you should not install it on your computer.
Install a virus scanner on your computer and allow it to check your files regularly for viruses. Ensure that you always have the latest updates provided by all leading manufacturers of virus-scanning software.

18. Web analysis with Google Analytics
